About Me
My name is Meg Winter and I am a dedicated and resilient student-athlete competing as a Division 1 cross country and track and field athlete at SHU. I am pursuing a degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition, combining my passion for athletics with a deep interest in health and wellness. My journey to collegiate running began in my junior year of high school, following a series of surgeries that pushed her to focus on regaining her physical and mental strength. Post operatively I was determined to improve my health and fitness, and began to prioritize nutrition and training, eventually discovering a love for running. After a year of running, I found success and passion for the amazing sport of distance running and decided to commit at the collegiate level. What sets me apart as a distance runner is my unique approach to training. In addition to running, I have a strong passion for weightlifting and I integrate it into my routine by lifting 5 to 6 times a week. This cross-training enhances my strength and helps prevent injury and supports her endurance, providing a competitive edge in both track and cross country. I believe in the power of combining distance running with strength training to build a well-rounded, powerful body capable of excelling in both disciplines. Through SHU I am studying Exercise Science and Nutrition, focusing on how these fields can be used to optimize both athletic performance and overall well-being. My interest in nutrition is deeply connected to my training philosophy, and I am passionate about how proper nutrition can fuel performance, recovery, and injury prevention, especially in female runners. Looking forward, I hope to apply my knowledge and personal experience to help others reach their fitness goals and lead healthier lives. Whether in the gym or on the track, I am committed to pushing the limits of my fitness and I am always striving to grow both as an athlete, teammate, and as a student.
